All I want is to be respected as an actress. I want people to say, when they see me, "Ah, she does her job well." I don't want to be a star. This just happened to fall into my lap, but I want to make more movies and play different characters. I want to learn how to become a good actress. I want to understand how they're able to really get a character well. For the industry, I'm hoping that people just get more united. That's very idealistic, but then, I'm entitled to that. Working Girls 2010 is the modern-day version of Working Girls, which was first released in 1984. Originally directed by Ishmael Bernal, Jose Javier Reyes will do this ensemble film. Liberated women of different status, profession, and principles will be brought to life by Eula Valdes, Ruffa Gutierrez, Iza Calzado, Cristine Reyes, Eugene Domingo, Carmi Martin, Jennylyn Mercado, and Bianca King. This will be a co-production with Unitel.

Matagal nang nakalipat si Iza Calzado sa bahay ni Rufa Mae Quinto sa isang gated village na nabili niya.
Mahigpit ang security sa village na tinitirhan ni Iza at pabor ito sa kanya dahil sa isang hindi kilalang lalaki na nagpilit na makapasok sa bahay niya.
Walang idea si Iza sa katauhan ng unwanted visitor pero sinabi ng kanyang kasambahay na nakiusap ang lalake sa security guard na papasukin siya dahil importanteng makausap niya ang aktres.
Nakaramdam ng takot si Iza, lalo na nang malaman niya na matagal na naghintay sa kanyang pagdating at nag-abang sa gate ang lalaki na ayaw magpakilala.

New Year, new pospects

Kapuso star Iza Calzado, who had a banner year in 2009, is poised to extend her winning streak.

Her first movie for 2010 – the remake of the Ishmael Bernal comedy “Working Girls” – is already in the works with one of her dream directors, Jose Javier Reyes, at the helm. A new show, “Encantadia: The Second Saga,” is also in the offing.

For her New Year’s wish, Iza pines for a romantic comedy or an action flick and maybe a Best Actress award. “Lahat naman siguro kami nangangarap ng ganyang award,” she shares. “Bakit pa kami nagpapakahirap, ‘di ba?”

When asked about enhancing her looks, the classically beautiful actress-host replies, “Sa katawan, madami akong gustong i-improve. Sa face, ayokong magreklamo kasi baka may bawiin si God. Pero meron akong mga scars dahil sa chickenpox. Even my teeth, may sungki ako. But I find imperfection charming.”

Botox doesn’t appeal to Iza. “Oo, mawawalan ka ng expression sa face,” she points out. “P’wede ‘yun kung model ka o kaya host o newscaster. Pero actress, no, kasi kumbaga sa painter, your canvas is your face.”

GMA Films and Imus Productions' Ang Panday was named Best Picture in the recently concluded 35th Metro Manila Film festival 2009 Gabi ng Parangal held earlier tonight, December 28, at the SMX of Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Ang Panday won a total of seven awards: Best Actor for Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., Best Supporting Actor for Phillip Salvador, Best Child Performer for Robert "Buboy" Villar, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, and Best Theme Song.

With the natural calamities that recently hit the country, plus the other tragedies that made Pinoy's Christmas less happy, it is just timely to send such message to every Filipino. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked some of the local celebrities how they would share their blessing to Pinoys who became victims of these unfortunate events. Iza Calzado: "In little ways. It doesn't have to be grand—maybe somebody you know needs help, maybe a little child needs a hug. You can always 'pasalove'" anytime of the day. It's in the small interaction. It's in the small deeds that we do."

ASK Iza Calzado how she feels about people regarding her as an elite and she will promptly parry the praise. “I don’t want to think about it unless I become comfortable where I’m at in my career. There are so many other things I want to do that I can’t afford to sit down and relax. I am happy that I already have a place in the business that no one can take away from me, but I want to show more...do more,” she says without any tinge of false modesty.

Nagda-diet si Iza Calzado para ma-maintain ang 129 lbs. na timbang, kaya laging may baon pati sa presscon para hindi siya ma-tempt kumain sa pagkain sa restaurant. Nang makausap namin, vegetables and fruits (oranges) ang nakita naming kinakain nito.

Very happy si Iza sa maraming projects na dumarating sa kanya sa TV at pelikula. Kapareha siya ni Sen. Bong Revilla, Jr. sa Ang Panday na sa trailer pa lang, marami na ang nagkakagusto at gustong panoorin ang buong pelikula. Gusto niya ang kanyang role na malumanay magsalita at naka-costume at feeling niya, ang ganda-ganda niya sa movie dahil sa magagandang shots.

Sa TV, napapanood siya sa Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit at StarStruck V bilang council at next year, magkakaroon siya ng two shows sa Q Channel 11. Isa rito ang Healthy Cravings na para sa mga nagda-diet at healthy food ang gusto.

Maganda rin ang takbo ng lovelife ni Iza at nahulog pa ang kinakaing oranges nang biruin ng isang movie writer na kaya siya nagda-diet para sabayan ang ganda ng katawan ng BF niyang si Atticus King na abs kung abs daw ang picture sa Metro Magazine.

PURING-PURI nina Iza Calzado at Rhian Ramos ang pag-aasikaso sa kanila ni Senador Bong Revilla sa set ng pelikulang Ang Panday. Sinisiguro ng magiting na senador na kumportable ang mga artista sa set ng malaking proyektong ito for the Metro Manila Film Festival ngayong Disyembre. Kaya naman sinisiguro nina Iza at Rhian ang suporta at ang galing nila sa pag-arte para hindi mapahiya ang GMA Artist Center sa mga kumukuha ng serbisyo sa mga alaga nila.
Happy si Senador Bong dahil naayos na ang kung ano mang obstacles para maipalabas itong Ang Panday. Nagkaproblema ang pelikulang ito dahil sa pagtakbo for reelection ni Senador Bong. Hindi pa man ito naipapalabas ay may foreign investors nang nagkakainteres sa pelikula base sa napanood nilang trailer. Balak ng GMA Films na magkaroon ito ng screenings sa iba’t ibang parte ng mundo na may Pinoy community.

IZA Calzado is a refreshing sight as one of the jurors in "Starstruck V." She just laughs when people tease her that she stole the job from Sunshine Dizon. "Hoy, wala akong inagawan ng trabaho," she says. "Akong ipinalit sa kanya but it's management's decision at hindi naman ako nagprisinta. I know I'm not the original choice, so I told GMA na ayusin muna nila kasi baka magka-issue na naman kami ni Shine at sabihing sinulot ko siya when I didn't ask for this. But I want to thank GMA 7 for believing in me. Now, I'm really enjoying being part of the jury as it's something I've never done before. I enjoy meeting fresh new talents na sana nga, sumikat din balang araw."
Iza is a competent juror as she's an award-winning actress who's doing one movie and TV show after another. She's Bong Revilla's leading lady in the Metro Filmfest entry "Ang Panday" and is getting raves for her portrayal of an anti-heroine in the afternoon drama, "Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit." Iza now is also more open about her boyfriend, Atticus King, the grandson of a hotel magnate. Why are her BFs non-showbiz? ALMOST 30 minutes tu-magal ang rape scene ni Iza Calzado sa indie film na Dukot.

Kaya naman hindi naiwasang ‘di magalusan at sumakit ang buong katawan ng magaling na aktres after ma-kunan ng nasabing eksena. Pero, hindi raw alintana ni Iza ang sakit ng katawan at galos na nakuha niya sa nasabing rape scene dahil ang mapaganda raw ang naturang eksena ang gustong mangyari niya. Wala raw keber si Iza kung mahipuan man ang kanyang buong katawan ng pitong rapists niya, ang mahalaga ay maganda ang kalalabasan ng eksena. Kaya naman after the take ay pinalakpakan nang husto si Iza ng staff and crew ng Dukot dahil sa ma-gandang resulta ng nasabing eksena. Puring-puri ng mga tao sa likod ng Dukot ang pa-giging professional ng aktres.
Grade A ang nakuha ng Dukot sa Cinema Evaluation Board dahil sa magandang pagkakagawa nito. Nakatakda itong mapanood sa Dec. 2 sa piling-pi-ling mga sinehan sa Pilipinas, at maging sa ibang bansa ay ipapalabas ito.

Ibig sabihin nito, magkakaroon ang producers ng 100% tax rebate. Pinuri ng CEB ang mapangahas na pagtatalakay nito sa mga aktibistang dinudukot at pinapaslang.
